Newspaper Research
Jim Faulkinbury
Since 1980, Jim has been a Certified Genealogist. He is a specialist in California research and in 1994 compiled and published “The Foreign-Born Voters of California in 1872 Including Naturalization Dates, Places and Courts of Record,” an extraction of nearly 62,000 records of foreign-born voters from the various California County Great Registers of Voters. He has contributed to genealogical publications such as Ann Lainhart’s “State Census Records” and is currently compiling births, marriages and deaths from the San Francisco Call newspaper to replace the lost public records in San Francisco as a result of the 1906 earthquake and fire. Currently, he has completed extractions through 1899. The final goal of this project is to complete the extractions through 1905.
Jim’s webpage at http://feefhs.org contains an index to the records extracted thus far in both compilations. He uses the extensive resources of the California State Library and State Archives. Jim is also the President of the Sacramento Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution and State Genealogist for the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America
